Women's Soccer Loses In Overtime To Michigan, 2-1

Ann Arbor, Mich. -- The Michigan State women's soccer team lost in overtime to Michigan, 2-1, in a conference match on Friday afternoon in Ann Arbor. The Spartans fell to 9-7-0 (4-6-0 Big Ten) record on the season, while the Wolverines improved to 6-5-6 (4-2-4 Big Ten).
In the first half, Michigan's Erika Kleinholz started the scoring in the 11th minute off a pass inside the box from Stephanie Chavez. Deep into the second half, Michigan State's Tiffany Laskowski (Sr., Troy) managed to steal the ball from the Wolverines to score at 84:06. In overtime, Michigan's Stephanie Chavez scored the game-winning goal in the 94th minute with an assist from Liz Dosa.
Michigan outshot the Spartans, 19-10, with Spartan goalkeeper Stacy Heller (Sr., Madison, Wis.) finished the game with nine saves. The Wolverines' goalkeepers, Megan Tuura and Suzie Grech, finished with two combined saves.
MSU plays Kent State in a non-conference match on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. in Kent, Ohio.
