MSU Women's Tennis Continues Play At ITA Regionals

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Michigan State women's tennis team continued play at the ITA Midwest Championships today in the doubles main draw.
MSU's Australian team of senior Caroline Lay (Brisbane, Australia) and freshman Sarah Andrews (Darwin, Australia) were 1-1 today. MSU's other doubles team of sophomore Shelley Brady (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and junior Karen Gustafson (East Lansing, Mich.) lost their only match of the day.
Lay and Andrews won 8-5 in the opening round against Eastern Illinois' Becky Brunner and Sarah Freeman, but lost their second match, 8-1, against Northwestern's Cristelle Grier and Jessica Rush. Brady and Gustafson fell in the opening round to Southern Illinois' Alejandra Blanco and Tana Trpani, 8-2, and withdrew from the consolation bracket.
Lay will continue play tomorrow in the main singles draw, which begins at 9 a.m.
