Women's Golf Finishes Eighth At Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate

Ohio State took tournament team honors, shooting an 884. Oklahoma State came in second place, one stroke behind, with an 885. The Swedish Junior National Team (892), Tulane (893) and Georgia (897) round out the top-five leaderboard.
Ohio State's Allison Hanna and Arkansas' Courtney Mahon finished the tournament tied for first place, with Hanna winning a playoff hole and taking tournament medalist honors.
Leading the way for the Spartans, sophomore Dayna Burleigh (Horsham, Pa.) jumped up one spot from her second-round finish, completing the tournament in a three-way tie for ninth place. Burleigh shot a third-round 74, and finished with a 221 (72-75-74).
Senior Sarah Martin (Grosse Ile, Mich.) finished in a seven-way tie for 17th place. She shot a final round 73, and finished with a 223 (73-74-76). Meanwhile, senior Allison Fouch (Grand Rapids, Mich.) finished in a six-way tie for 50th place overall. Fouch shot a third-round 77, finishing tournament play with a 232 (76-79-77).
Rounding out the Spartan squad were freshmen Mandi McConnell (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and Heather Rose (Chillicothe, Ohio), who ended in a four-way tie for 56th place with a 233. McConnell shot a third-round 77, while Rose shot a final round 75- her best round of the tournament.
The Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate marked MSU's final outing of the fall. The Spartans open the spring season Feb. 14-15 at the Spartan/Wildcat Cup in Orlando, Fla.
