Men's Golf Sits In Fifth At Duke Golf Classic

DURHAM, N.C. - Michigan State men's golf sits in fifth place after the first two rounds of the Duke Golf Classic. MSU shot a 585 (293-292) at the par 72, 7,111-yard Duke Golf Club in Durham, N.C., on Sunday, Oct. 19.
The Spartans trail fourth-place Kansas State (294-290-584) by just one stroke and third-place Illinois by two strokes (295-288-583). North Carolina sits atop the leaderboard with 576 (292-284), while Duke is second with a 582 (292-290).
Individually, freshman Matt Harmon (Grand Rapids, Mich.) is tied for second with Toledo's Justin Bertsch, heading into Monday's final 18 holes. Harmon shot a 72 in the morning session, but rebounded with a 66 in the afternoon for a two-round score of 138. Harmon's 66 ranks tied for second on MSU's low-18 hole score chart. North Carolina's Dustin Bray holds a two shot lead over Harmon and Bertsch with a 136 (71-65).
Junior Andrew Ruthkoski (Muskegon, Mich.) is tied for 22nd with a 148 (72-76), while freshman Craig Revell (Kingston, Ont.) sits tied for 31st with a 150 (74-76).
Senior Ben Fox (Fort Wayne, Ind.) is tied for 39th with a 151 (77-74), just one shot behind Revell. Sophomore James Chestnut (Grand Blanc, Mich.) rounds out the Spartan line-up in a tie for 58th with a 156 (75-81).
The final 18 holes of the Duke Golf Classic is set for Monday, Oct. 20, with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
