EAST LANSING, Mich. -
How do you feel about the upcoming season?
Chris Hill- This season's schedule is extremely exciting. We know our work is going to be cut out for us because of the places we are playing and the teams we are scheduled to play. But the way a lot of us look at it is what college player doesn't want to play Kansas, Duke or Kentucky. That is just what you dream of when you are little. This season we have a lot of urgency to win a championship, because we have had chances the last two years. But this year we are juniors, we have been through a lot, we have to be leaders because we have the experience. We have to get everyone on the team motivated to get what we want done.
What do you expect out of yourself for the upcoming season?
Chris Hill- I want to build on the leadership aspect of the team. All of us that have been here have to help each other out on the leadership. We have to stay consistent and continue to bring it to every game. The key for me is to focus on competitiveness and the drive of each of the players to be on one another all the time.
How do you feel about the upcoming season?
Alan Anderson- The season is unpredictable, so I am just going to take it game by game. We are hungry to win a championship. We have a lot of talent and I believe the sky is the limit for us, just depending upon how much we want it. We are expecting a team effort, even from the players on the bench. No three players will be singled out. It's always us, Spartans, State. We are looking at everything game by game. What happens at the end we will deal with, but our main goal is to win a championship. Expect this season to be fast-paced. We probably will not get any rest at all. The Big Ten season is no joke either. We want a championship, but we have to teach the younger guys how to get to the Elite Eight and expand off that.
What do you expect out of yourself for the upcoming season?
Alan Anderson- I expect a lot of leadership out of myself. I need to knock down more open shots, direct the younger guys on the floor and to win a championship.
What are your thoughts on the upcoming season?
Jason Andreas- We are very excited about the season, the schedule and it's my last year. It's exciting to know each game will be my last and I want each to be memorable. Our motto this year is "cut'em down". Which obviously means cutting the nets down at the end of the season for a championship. Whether it is a Big Ten, Big Ten Tournament, Final Four or National Championship. That's our motto and every time we break a huddle that is what we say. I am looking forward to the Ford Field game, but truly looking forward to all the games, not just one. We have to just take one game at a time. We shouldn't get to far ahead because we should only focus on that one game at that time. We are hungry to win the championship this year.
What do you expect out of yourself for the upcoming season?
Jason Andreas- I plan on using my experience to show the other guys, teach them and explain to them what is going on. Last year we made it to the Elite Eight and that drive is pushing us this season to make things happen. I want everything to be perfect this year and I want to go out with a bang.
My teammates say I am the last link to the National championship, because I was here in 2000, when we won the Big Ten, Big Ten Tournament and the National Championship. I am the last guy on the team to play in a Final Four. My leadership role is to pass on that experience to the younger guys and show them and teach them what it is like.
How do you feel about the upcoming season?
Kelvin Torbert- We all are looking forward to this year's schedule. This is one of the best schedules we have had in the last couple of years. It's truly getting everybody pumped up and letting everybody get mentally ready for all of our games. I think we will get better each game as a team. I think the non-conference schedule will help us more than hurt us. We've got a lot of veteran guys that know how it is to go out and play games. So I think this schedule will help us out and get us ready for the Big Ten year and tournament time. We want to step up and win a championship.
What do you expect out of yourself for the upcoming season?
Kelvin Torbert- I have very high expectations in myself for the season. I believe it is better to have high expectations than lower expectations. I will go out every day to help my team consistently in every way I know how.
