Men's Golf To Compete At Northern Intercollegiate

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The No. 11 Michigan State men's golf team travels to Bloomington, Ind., to compete in the annual Northern Intercollegiate Sept. 28-29 at the Indiana University Golf Course.
The Spartans return to action after tying for third place at the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational last week (Sept. 16-17). Michigan State finished behind No. 2 Florida and No. 9 Oklahoma State. Senior All-American Eric Jorgensen (Big Rapids, Mich.) led the Spartans, tying for eighth place overall.
The Northern Intercollegiate serves as the fall preview for the 2003 Big Ten Championship. The Indiana University Golf Course, a par 71, 6,942-yard layout, will host the Big Ten Championship May 2-4. Nine of the 15 teams competing at the Northern Intercollegiate are from the Big Ten, including defending NCAA National Champion and No. 5 Minnesota. Among other highly ranked teams are No. 7 Penn State and No. 14 Illinois.
The first two rounds of the 54-hole tournament are slated for Saturday (Sept. 28), with the final round of 18 holes scheduled for Sunday (Sept. 29).
