Three Spartans Still Alive in Michigan Women's Amateur Championship

HARBOR SPRINGS, Mich. - Two current members of the Michigan State women's golf team and head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll are still alive at the 86th Michigan Women's Amateur Golf Championship, which is being held at The Moor Course at Boyne Highlands.
In the first round of the championship flight of match play, redshirt freshman Jennifer Johnson (Okemos, Mich.) defeated Cathleen Netter of Monroe in 20 holes. Junior Sarah Martin (Grosse Ile, Mich.) posted a 3&2 victory over Debra Robert of New Baltimore. Meanwhile, head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll posted a 5&4 victory over Melissa Sneller of Holland. Senior Lauren Youngdahl (Jackson, Mich.) dropped a 6&5 decision to Courtney Reno of Grosse Ile.
Action resumes on Wednesday morning (July 10) and runs through Friday, July 12 with the championship match teeing off at 10 a.m.
