Women's Track And Field Competes At Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas - The Michigan State women's track and field team sent 10 of its top sprinters and field performers to Austin, Texas, to compete in the 75th-annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. Events are being held at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin and feature some of the world's premier athletes.
The Spartans performed well in many of Friday's featured field events. Freshman Michelle Rzepka (Novi, Mich.) finished 10th in her section of the pole vault and established a new school record with a mark of 11'05 3/4."
Sophomore Sarah Adelaine (Harbor Springs, Mich.) finished 16th in the shot put with a mark of 41'03" and 19th in the hammer throw (155'06"), breaking her own school record set during the 2001 season.
Junior Sherita Williams (Tampa, Fla.) finished seventh in the section-B finals of the long jump with a mark of 19'01 1/2."
The Spartans continue competition on Saturday (April 6), at 10 a.m. CST, in Austin. Other Spartans will compete at the Notre Dame Spring Opener in South Bend, Ind., on Saturday.
