Evans Sixth In Penn Relays 5000-Meter Run.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Michigan State's Ben Evans (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) led a strong Spartan showing at day one of the Penn Relays Thursday (April 25). The sophomore placed sixth in the 5000-meter run with a time of 14:11.56, one of two top-15 finishes for MSU on the day.
Junior Andrew Alley (Calgary, Alta.) also participated in the 5000-meter run. He finished 24th with a time of 14:39.81.
Sophomore Jason Mueller (Shelby, Ohio) logged MSU's other top-15 showing, finishing 13th in the 3000-meter steeplechase at 9:07.73. Fellow sophomore Steve Sherer (Saline, Mich.) placed 16th in the Olympic development 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:23.63.
Freshmen Andy Marsh (Grand Ledge, Mich.) and Nathan Usher (Gregory, Mich.) were scheduled to compete in Thursday's 10,000-meter run.
