Men's Track Finish Day One Of Stanford Invitational

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The Michigan State men's track and field team completed the first day of events at the 28th annual Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., on Fri., March 29. The Invitational is being held at Cobb Track and Angell Field in Palo Alto and features thousands of top high school and collegiate athletes from around the nation, as well as many top post-collegiate athletes. It is a non-scoring meet that produced more than 180 NCAA Division I automatic or provisional qualifiers last year. Events continue Sat., March 30, at 12 p.m. ET.
Sophomore Steve Manz (West Branch, Mich.) finished sixth for the Spartans in the shot put with a mark of 56'01". Senior Paul Terek (Livonia, Mich.) performed well in his field event as he finished second in the long jump for his section with a mark of 22'06".
Senior Jeff Kus (Grand Ledge, Mich.) finished fifth in his trial run for the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15:13. Kus will compete in the finals of the 110-meter hurdles Saturday, scheduled to start at 5:15 p.m. ET. Junior Andrew Alley (Calgary, Alberta) finished 17th in his section of the 5000 meter run with a time of 14:24. Sophomore Ben Evans (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) competed in the top section of the 10,000 meter run and finished with a time of 29:54, while sophomore Nathan Usher (Gregory, Mich.) finished with a time of 30:24 and freshman Kevin Clary (Kalispell, Mont.) finished with a time of 31:25.
The Spartans continue day-two action at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET.
