Men's Basketball Edges Purdue, 62-59

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Aloysius Anagonye scored the game-winning basket with 29.8 seconds left and Marcus Taylor scored 20 points to lead Michigan State to a 62-59 win over Purdue on Saturday night.
The Spartans (15-10, 6-6 Big Ten) held a five-point lead before Purdue's Willie Deane hit consecutive 3-pointers for a 59-58 lead with just under one minute left.
Michigan State worked the ball around before finding Anagonye in the paint to seal its sixth win in its last nine games.
Deane missed a last-second 3-point attempt for the Boilermakers (12-15, 4-9). Deane led Purdue with 18 points. Rodney Smith scored 13, Darmetreis Kilgore had 12 and Austin Parkinson added 10 assists.
Adam Ballinger scored 12 points and Chris Hill added 10 for the Spartans.
The Boilermakers shot only 3-for-9 from the free-throw line. Purdue led by two midway through the second half when John Allison missed two attempts. With the game tied at 45, Joe Marshall missed both of his. Then Michigan took a 47-45 lead after an Alan Anderson basket.
Few fouls were called on either team. The Spartans made 5 of 6 free throws.
After shooting only 40 percent in the first half, Michigan State made 14 of 23 shots in the second. The Spartans trailed 29-26 at the half before building the lead to 40-35.
Kilgore then hit two straight 3s as Purdue briefly regained the lead, 41-40, but Ballinger answered with a 3.
The Boilermakers never regained the lead until Deane's 3-pointer made it 58-56 with 1:35 left.
