EAST LANSING, Mich. - Behind another shutout performance from goalkeeper Stacy Heller (Jr., Madison, Wis.), the Michigan State women's soccer team defeated Central Michigan, 3-0, Wednesday afternoon in Mt. Pleasant. It was the 10th time this season the Spartans held their opponent scoreless. MSU is now unbeaten in its last five games and improves to 12-4-2 while CMU falls to 5-8-5 overall.
State scored its first goal of the day in the 32nd minute when Heidi Lutz (Sr., San Ramon, Calif.) headed a ball in off a feed from Emily Weigand (Fr., Portage).
Tiffany Laskowski (Jr., Troy) scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season at the 65:25 mark to double the Spartans lead to 2-0. Taking a pass from Abby Shepherd (So., Milford), she broke down the right side of the field and beat CMU goalkeeper Kari Alexander with a shot to the opposite corner. Andrea Sied (Jr., Livonia) provided an insurance marker in the 81st minute when she scored off a loose ball from a corner kick.
