Women's Golf Slips To Eighth At Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Michigan State women's golf team slipped to eighth place following day two of the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate Championship. The Spartans shot a 313 on Saturday (Oct. 19) and have a 36-hole total of 617 (304-313).
Florida and the Swedish Junior National Team are tied for the lead heading into the final day of competition with a 603. Florida shot a 290 on Saturday, while the Swedish Junior Team shot a 303. UNLV (306-299-605), Auburn (303-304-607) and North Carolina (314-297-611) round out the top five teams. The Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate Championship is being held at the Gettysvue Polo, Golf and Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn.
Junior Allison Fouch (Grand Rapids, Mich.) currently paces the Spartans' attack with a 16th-place showing following day two. Fouch shot a 4-over 76 on day two and has a two-day total of 152 (76-76). North Carolina's Ashley Prange is the individual leader heading into day three with a 72-70-142.
Junior Sarah Martin (Grosse Ile, Mich.) moved into 20th place after positing a 76 on day two. Martin has a two-round total of 153 (77-76). Senior Jessica Till (Fort Wayne, Ind.) is tied for 27th after recording an 80 on day two. Till has a two-round score of 75-80-155.
Freshman Dayna Burleigh (Horsham, Pa.) is tied for 32nd with a 76-81-157, while Red-shirt freshman Christy Jonkhoff (Traverse City, Mich.) sits in 77th place after shooting a 94-94-188.
The final round of the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate Championship will be played on Sunday (Oct. 20) with a shotgun start.
