Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Wolverine Invitational

Ann Arbor, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team finished in fourth place Sunday (September 30) at the Wolverine Invitational. As a team, the Spartans posted a two-round team score of 587 (292-295). The Spartans finished 13 strokes behind tournament champion Baylor, which shot 574. Tournament host Michigan finished in seventh place with a score of 593. A total of 21 teams competed this weekend.
The Spartans were led by junior co-captain Eric Jorgensen (Big Rapids, Mich.), who finished tied for third place. On Friday (September 28) Jorgensen carded an outstanding round where he shot a two-under 69. Jorgensen shot a 73 on Sunday (September 30) and compiled a score of 142 for the weekend.
Senior co-captain Nathan Clark (Mason, Mich.) and junior John Koskinen (Baraga, Mich.) both carded rounds of 73 and 74. Clark and Koskinen finished the weekend with a score of 147 and placed 20th overall.
Freshman Andrew Ruthkoski (Muskegon, Mich.), who participated in his first collegiate tournament put, together rounds of 77 and 74, which gave him a tournament score of 151.
Rising sophomore J.J. Beckstrom (North Muskegon, Mich.) recorded a 76 for the day. Beckstrom shot a 78 in Friday's first round (September 28). He finished the tournament with a two-round score of 154.
Michigan State returns to action Tuesday October 2 and Wednesday October 3 at the Eighth Annual Adams Cup of Newport Collegiate, hosted by the University of Rhode Island.
