Decathletes Start Strong At Big Ten Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - After day one of the Big Ten Outdoor Track Championships, Michigan State senior Paul Terek (Livonia, Mich.) and junior Jeff Kus (Grand Ledge, Mich.) stand second and third, respectively, in the decathlon.
With five events under their belts, Terek has scored 3876 points and Kus 3767. Terek has placed no lower than fourth in any event, winning the 400-meter dash (48.91). Kus took second in the high jump (6-9). Indiana's Brian Bowman leads the decathlon with 3974 points.
After the opening day of competition, Purdue leads the pack with 24 points, followed by Iowa (15) and Ohio State (14).
The Big Ten Championships resume Saturday, May 19 with the decathlon's 110-meter hurdles at 9:30 a.m. and concludes Sunday, May 20.
