Manz Sets School Record Again

Ann Arbor, Mich. - MSU freshman Steve Manz (West Branch, Mich.) continues to break records. At the University of Michigan's Len Paddock Invitation today (May 12), Manz placed first in the shot put, setting a new school mark with a throw of 59' 08 1/2".
Manz was not the only Spartan to place first in his event as sophomore Andy Lixey (East Tawas, Mich.) ran to first place in the 800 meter with a time of 1:51.11. Senior Matt Ingram (Lyons, Mich.) was right on Lixey's heels, placing third at 1:52.28.
Senior Jasmine Alverson (Inkster, Mich.) and sophomore Terry Jenkins (Altadena, Calif.) both had top-five finishes in the 110-meter high hurdles. Alverson placed second (14.27) while Jenkins placed fourth (14.61).
Senior Matt Deering (Dowagiac, Mich.) also came out of the weekend with a top five showing. The MSU co-captain took second in the pole vault (16' 6").
The Spartans are off to Bloomington, Ind. next weekend (May 18-20) to compete in the Big Ten Championships.
