MSU Men's Track Completes Day One At Paddock Invite

Sophomore Terry Jenkins (Altadena, Calif.) led the Michigan State men's track team with a third-place finish in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles during the first day of competition Friday (May 11) at the Len Paddock Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan.
Jenkins' time of 52.38 was topped only by Josh Sellers of Michigan, who won the event at 51.44, and unattached competitor E.J. Martin, who finished second at 52.38. Senior Jasmine Alverson (Inkster, Mich.) placed seventh in the 400 IM hurdles with a time of 53.88. The Spartans also placed two competitors in the top 13 in the 1500-meter run. Freshman Steve Sherer (Saline, Mich.) finished 11th in the 1500, recording a time of 3:54.31, while fellow freshman Jeff Mulder (Haslett, Mich.) was 13th with a time of 3:55.14.
The two-day invitational concludes tomorrow with numerous field events including the shot put, discus, pole vault, high jump, long jump, triple jump. MSU athletes will take part in the 100- ,200- , 400- and 800-meter runs, the 400- and 1600-meter relays and the 110-meter high hurdles.
