MSU Men's Golf Readies For Fossum Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. -
The Michigan State men's golf team welcomes 14 rivals to Forest Akers West Golf Course this weekend for the 33rd annual Bruce Fossum/TeamGearOnline.com Invitational. The 54-hole event takes place on the MSU campus Saturday and Sunday.
The tournament is an important one for the Spartans, who have posted top-five finishes in each of their last three tournaments and are tuning up for the Big Ten Championships in Champaign, Ill., next weekend. MSU hasn't captured the Fossum team title since 1992 and hasn't had a player take tournament medalist honors since Brent Kish shot a 72-hole score of 281 in 1990.
The tournament begins Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Teams will shoot 36 holes during the first day and finish up with 18 holes Sunday beginning at 9 a.m.

MSU Notes
* MSU has won the team title seven times in the Fossum Invitational's 33-year history, but only twice since 1973.
* 12 of the last 13 Fossum Invitational team titles have been won by Big Ten schools.
* The Fossum Invitational is the last tournament for the Spartans prior to the Big Ten Tournament in Champaign, Ill., May 4-6.
