MSU Women's Track Competes in Hillsdale Gina Relays

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's track and field team will compete in the 35th annual Hillsdale Gina Relays April 26-28 in Hillsdale, Mich. The heptathlon is the only event that will be contested on Thursday, April 26 at 3:30 p.m. The meet starts at 10 a.m. on Friday (April 27) and 11 a.m. on Saturday (April 28).
MT. SAC RELAYS: Junior tri-captain Ann Somerville (Ironwood, Mich.) led the Spartans at the Mt. Sac Relays April 20-22. Somerville finished fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:40.93. Senior Shannon Houseman (Alto, Mich.) also competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing 18th (11:31.56). Sophomore Cindy Durocher (Winnipeg, Man.) took 28th in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 37:11.03.
WESTERN MICHIGAN TRIANGULAR RECAP: While five of MSU's top competitors were competing in the Mt. Sac Relays, the rest of the Spartan team competed in the Western Michigan Triangular, finishing third with 78 points. Western Michigan won the meet with 120 points, while Bowling Green finished second. Freshman Sarah Adelaine (Harbor Springs, Mich.) led the Spartans with three first-place finishes. Adelaine put up marks of 44'01.50 in the shot put, 106'11.00" in the javelin throw and 130'07.00" in the discus throw. Junior Nadia Ricketts (Kingston, Jamaica) finished third in the long jump with a mark of 17'03.25". Ricketts also took third in the triple jump with a mark of 35'11.50".
INTO THE RECORD BOOKS: Sophomore Shiloh Wint (Westland, Mich.) etched her name on the top five all-time MSU outdoor performance list with an outstanding performance in the pole vault. Wint's mark of 10'11.75" now ranks second on the all-time list and was also good enough for a second-place finish in the WMU Triangular.
