EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's track and field team finished third in a triangular meet Saturday, April 21. The Spartans, who were without five of their top competitors, scored 78 points in the meet in Kalamazoo, Mich. Western Michigan won the meet with 156 points. Bowling Green took second with 120 points.
Freshman Sarah Adelaine (Harbor Springs, Mich.) led the Spartans with three first-place finishes. Adelaine put up marks of 44'01.50 in the shot put, 106'11.00" in the javelin throw and 130'07.00" in the discus throw.
Sophomore Shiloh Wint (Westland, Mich.) captured second in the pole vault with a mark of 10'11.75", earning the second spot on the school's top five all-time performance list.
Sophomore Akilah Washington (Detroit, Mich.) finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.51. Washington also took third in the 200-meter dash (25.14).
Junior Katie Bonner (Canton, Mich.) took third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:00.62. Sophomore Sarah Pepera (Ortonville, Mich.) finished fourth (5:03.26).
Sophomore Sarah Green (St. Joseph, Mich.) earned a third-place finish in the 400-meter low hurdles with a time of 1:09.36.
Sophomore Erin Alexander (Grand Blanc, Mich.) took second in the long jump (17'11.50"). Junior Nadia Ricketts (Kingston, Jamaica) followed in third with a mark of 17'03.25". Ricketts also took third in the triple jump with a mark of 35'11.50".
The next Michigan State women's track meet is Saturday and Sunday April 28-29 at the Hillsdale "Gina" Relays in Hillsdale, Mich.
