Carson, Somerville to Compete in Stanford Invitational

The Michigan State women's track team will have members competing in both the Raleigh Relays in North Carolina and the Stanford Invitational in California this weekend. Junior Ann Somerville (Ironwood, Mich.) and freshman Michelle Carson (Winnipeg, Man.) will compete in the Stanford Invitational Friday and Saturday (3/31-4/1), while the rest of the Spartan women's track and field team competes in the Raleigh Relays March 30-31.
CROSS COUNTRY CARSON: Freshman Michelle Carson (Winnipeg, Man.) represented Canada in the World Junior Cross Country Championships in Ostend, Belgium Saturday, March 23. She finished 73rd internationally, competing among 123 runners in the race. Carson earned the spot to compete last November at the National Championships in Canada. Carson ran the event in 25:00.
FLORIDA STATE RELAYS RECAP: Junior Nadia Ricketts (Kingston, Jamaica) led the Spartans with a third-place finish in the triple jump, recording a mark of 37'00.25. The mark places Ricketts fourth on the MSU outdoor top five all-time performances list. Junior Katie Bonner (Canton, Mich.) captured sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:32.45. Senior Shannon Houseman (Alto, Mich.) was not far behind with a ninth-place finish. Freshman Sarah Adelaine (Harbor Springs, Mich.) took eighth in the shot put event (39'08.50).
