Men's Track Stumbles At Meyo Invitational

SOUTH BEND, IND. - The Michigan State men's track team headed back to South Bend this weekend, looking to bounce back after losing to Notre Dame in a dual meet the week before. The Spartans competed in Notre Dame's annual Meyo Invitational, which this year featured top schools from the Big Ten, Big East and SEC.
While no team scores were kept, the Spartans had several athletes finish is the top eight of their events. Paul Terek (Sr./Livonia, Mich.) scored a second place finish in the pole vault (16' 08 3/4") while teammate Matt Deering (Sr./Dowagiac, Mich.) finished fourth in the vault (16' 02 3/4").
Steve Manz (Fr./West Branch, Mich.) threw a new personal-best distance and NCAA provisional mark in the shot put, with his first-place winning throw of 58' 04 1/2".
Andrew Alley (So./Calgary, Alberta) placed eighth in the 800m (8:22.01), while MSU's distance medley team placed second in a time of 9:58.08.
The Spartans will travel to the Cyclone Invitational in Ames, Iowa on Feb. 9-10.
