Women's Golf Finishes 16th At TRW Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. - The Michigan State women's golf team finished 16th at the TRW Regional Challenge. The 18-team tournament was held at the par-71 Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif, from Feb. 12-14.
MSU shot a 318 in the final round on Wednesday (Feb. 14) to finish at +89 for the tournament. After darkness and rain suspended the first day of action, MSU shot a 309 in the opening round, a 314 in the second round and finished the tournament at 941. Arizona, the defending champion, won the tournament after shooting rounds of 293-289-302 for a three-day total of 834. Arizona finished 11 strokes ahead of second place New Mexico State (289-304-302 -- 895).
Arizona's Natalie Gulbis took home the individual title, after firing rounds of 72-69-73 for a three-day total of 214. Junior Stacy Snider was MSU's top finishers placing 23rd with a three-day total of 77-77-74--228. Junior Emily Bastel placed tied for 33rd after firing a three-day total of 72-79-79--230.
Other MSU golfers include: senior Kasey Gant, tied for 51st (79-78-78--235), freshman Sarah Martin, 84th (81-83-87--251) and freshman Allison Fouch, 90th (88-80-89--257).
Michigan State returns to action March 12-13 at the Peggy Kirk Bell Classic in Orlando, Florida.
