Women's Soccer Falls In Big Ten Tournament

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Michigan State women's soccer team fell to No. 20 Michigan, 2-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2001 Big Ten Women's Soccer Tournament in West Lafayette, Ind. With the loss, the Spartans fall to 10-8-2 on the season, while Michigan improves to 12-6-1.
The game remained scoreless until the 87th minute when Michigan's Abby Crumpton scored at 86:45 off assists from Amy Sullivant and Carly Williamson. The Wolverines would ice the game two minutes later when Sullivant found the back of the net herself at 88:52.
MSU's Stacy Heller (Madison, Wis.) made four saves in goal as she held the Wolverines scoreless for the first 86 minutes of the contest. For the game, Michigan outshot the Spartans, 13-3.
