Spartan teams competed in the Eastern Michigan Cross Country Classic

Ypsilanti, Mich. - Michigan State's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Eastern Michigan Cross Country Classic in Ypsilanti, Mich., Friday, October 19. The women's team took two of the top-ten places, while the men's took one in the non-scoring event.
Freshman Michelle Kinkela (Sterling Heights, Mich.) finished fourth with a time of 19:39, followed by teammate sophomore Kendra Huff (Whitmore Lake, Mich.) who placed ninth with a 20:14 in the 5-kilometer race.
On the men's side, sophomore Brian Wilson (Clifford, Mich.) placed seventh running a 26:16 8-kilometer race. Sophomore Kevin Yokom (Kentwood, Mich.) finished 18th in a time of 27:16, sophomore Jamie Johnson (Eaton Rapids, Mich.) placed 19th (27:25) and freshman Brent Wrisley (St. Louis, Mich.) finished 23rd with a time of 27:34.
Both Spartan teams compete next at the Big Ten Championships in Champaign, Ill., on Oct. 28.
