EAST LANSING, MICH. - The No. 8 Michigan State wrestling squad, fresh off a upset of the fifth-ranked Illinois team, will host the No. 7 ranked Michigan Wolverines on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. Michigan suffered a crushing defeat by No.1 Minnesota, 29-6, on Friday. The classic dual will feature 16 nationally ranked wrestlers and will be the two team's second time facing each other this season as Michigan won the first meeting in Ann Arbor, 22-12.
"They are coming off a tough road trip to Minnesota," said 197-pounder Nik Fekete. "Our wrestling has improved tremendously since the first match-up and we are going to make this match just as tough as the one against Minnesota."
The dual will feature several heated rematches at the 125, 141 and heavyweight classes. Knowing each other from their prep years, No. 12 Chris Williams will look to avenge his loss earlier this season to Michigan's No. 8 A.J. Grant. At 141 MSU's No.16 Mike Castillo took the first two meetings this season over Michigan's No.12 Clark Forward and the match-up at heavyweight is one of old foes as MSU's Matt Lamb faces off against No.2 Matt Brink.
