Women's Soccer Defeated by Purdue, 2-1

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State women's soccer team was defeated, 2-1, by Purdue on Friday afternoon in West Lafayette, Ind. MSU is now 7-2-1 overall (2-2-0 Big Ten), while the Boilermakers increase their record to 8-3-0 overall (3-2-0 Big Ten). The loss marks the Spartans' second-straight Big Ten defeat.
Michigan State got off to a slow start for the second-consecutive game, giving up two goals in the first half. Jessica Baumhoff scored Purdue's first goal at the 15:18 mark. Jennie Moppert scored next at 26:22, to give the Boilermakers a 2-0 lead.
MSU responded with a second-half goal by freshman Andrea Sied (Livonia) off a penalty kick at 49:14.The Spartans were out shot by the Boilermakers, 15-6. Michigan State senior goalkeeper Sara Kloosterman (Farmington) made six saves during the game.
Michigan State looks to get back on track Sunday, Oct. 1, with a contest against Indiana in Bloomington at 1:30 p.m.
