Women's Soccer Ties Eastern Michigan In 2nd OT

East Lansing, Mich. - The Michigan State women's soccer team remains undefeated after tying Eastern Michigan 1-1 on Sunday, Sept. 10 in Ypsilanti in a game played in a downpour. The Spartans are now 5-0-1, while EMU is 2-1-2 on the season.
Eastern Michigan's Courtney Sindelar scored the game's first goal at the 6:39 mark. MSU responded later in the half when junior Nicole LePlae (Brighton) scored an unassisted goal at 33:51 to tie the game. LePlae's goal was MSU's only shot in the first half, while Eastern Michigan had 11 shots during the half.
Although the Spartans out shot the Eagles, 6-2, in the second half, 3-1 in the first overtime, and 1-1 in the second OT, they were unable to convert the attempts into goals.
Michigan State goalkeeper Sara Kloosterman (Sr., Farmington) made nine saves on 15 shots during the game.
The Spartans will begin conference play when they return to action at home against Ohio State on Sunday, Sept. 17 (3:00 p.m.) at Old College Field.
