Men's Soccer Defeats Cleveland State

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's soccer team downed Cleveland State 3-2 on Sunday to improve their record to 4-0 on the season while Cleveland State remains winless at 0-2-1.
The Vikings struck first, just 2:49 into the game to take an early lead. The Spartans Steve Arce (Jr., Windsor, Ont.) answered at the 21:21 mark on an unassisted goal to tie the game. Michigan State then got two second half goals to take control. Nick Degraw (So., Clinton Twp.) took a pass from Paul Vance (Jr., Flint) and scored to make it 2-1. Less than three minutes later, Mike Trivelloni (Sr., Mt. Clemens) scored unassisted to make it 3-1. Cleveland State closed out the scoring with less than a minute left to make it 3-2.
MSU goalkeeper T.J. Lieckfelt (Sr., Sterling Heights) made four saves on nine shots.
Michigan State will try to extend their winning streak next weekend when the Spartans travel to California to take on Loyola Marymount on Friday, September 15 at 6 p.m. EDT and Gonzaga on Sunday, September 17 at 3:30 p.m.
