Women's Track Finishes 10th At Big Ten Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's track and field team finished 10th with 20 points at the 2000 Big Ten Outdoor Championships at Francis X. Cretzmeyer Track in Iowa City, Iowa. Indiana won the conference championships with 135 points.
The Spartans did score points on Sunday with a pair of fourth-place performances. Sherita Williams (Fr., Tampa, Fla.), who placed eighth in the long jump on Saturday, scored on Sunday with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with an NCAA-provisional attempt of 12.69 meters (41' 7-3/4"). Jennifer Denkins (Sr., Flushing, Mich.), who fourth in the 10,000 meters on Friday night, placed fourth in the 5,000 meters on Sunday afternoon in a time of 16:56.70.
Lynlee Phillips (Fr., Shamong, N.J.) was the other Spartan to score during the championships, placing fifth in the javelin on Saturday.
