Spartans Have Field Day At Len Paddock Invitational

Ann Arbor, Mich. - Senior Okoineme Giwa-Agbomeirele (Midland) won the long jump (25-1 1/2) to pace a strong effort in the field events by the Michigan State men's track and field team at the non-scoring Len Paddock Invitational, May 12-13, in Ann Arbor. Overall, the Spartans recorded eight top 10 finishes in field events and two top five finishes in the running events.
Senior E.J. Martin (Orange Village, Ohio) paced the runners with a third place finish in the 110-meter hurdles (14.20) and a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (54.19).
Sophmore Joe Keller (Lansing/Eastern HS) placed in three field events for the Spartans, finishing fourth in the hammer throw (177-7) and the shot put (54-8 3/4) and seventh in the discus (157-3 1/2). Senior Justin Selden (Reese) placed in two events with a fifth-place showing in the discus (161-11) and a seventh place effort in the hammer throw (168-11).
Junior Jeff Kus (Grand Ledge) finished fourth in the high jump after clearing the bar at 6-10, while Matt Dawes was 10th in the shot put (48-11).
Michigan State will travel to Iowa City, Iowa May 19-21 for the Big Ten Outdoor Championships.
