Men's Gymnastics Falls To No. 1 Michigan

EAST LANSING, Mich. - -The MSU men's gymnastics team fell to No. 1 Michigan on Thursday, by a score of 230.025-226.775. The Spartans' 226.775 was their second highest team score of the year. The Spartans won the vault, with a score of 38.000, and high-bar (37.475) in the team competition. MSU is now 3-8 overall and 1-3 in the Big Ten.
Freshman Brad Golden (Orlando, Fla.) took first place in the all-around competition with a MSU season- high score of 57.350. Golden also took first place in the floor exercise, with a 9.900, tied for first in the vault (9.600) and finished second on the high-bar (9.550). His 9.900 in the floor exercise was a season-high, as well as a MSU season team high.
Tom Housley (Jr., Jonesboro, Ga.) tied for second in the floor exercise with a 9.750 and senior Mike Quarress (Huntington Beach, Calif.) took third in the vault, scoring a 9.550. Both scores were individual season-highs.
In the high-bar, the Spartans swept the top three spots. Sophomore Jonathan Plante (Easton, Pa.) took first with a score of 9.675, while Golden took second (9.550) and Jeff Moomaw (Sr., Cincinnati, Ohio.) placed third, (9.400).
The Spartans' next action will be Saturday, February 26 at Illinois-Chicago at 8 p.m. EST.
