Day Two of MSU Women's Tennis Tournament Complete

East Lansing, Mich. - Michigan State women's tennis completed day two of the Spartan Cup women's tennis tournament on Saturday, Oct. 7. The event runs through Sunday, Oct. 8, and is held at the MSU indoor tennis courts. Quarterfinal and Semifinal rounds were held today in both singles and doubles.
Michigan State senior Natasha Skogerboe (Coon Rapids, Minn.) was defeated in the Quarterfinal Round of the Open Singles A division by Eastern Michigan's Rebecca Hawkins, 6-2, 6-2. Skogerboe advanced to the Quarterfinal Round by defeating Illinois' Alyson Stalzer, 6-3, 6-2, on Friday.
MSU's doubles team of Skogerboe and sophomore Joi McQueen (Carmel, Ind.) also competed in Quarterfinal Action today. Skogerboe and McQueen were defeated by Eastern's D'Amelia and Hawkins, 8-3.
In Consolation action today, junior Christie Chargot (Port Huron) was defeated by Lisa Eidam of Miami of Ohio, 6-1, 6-3, in the Semifinal Round after receiving two byes and a victory by default over Miami of Ohio's Ivona Grujic.
Play at the Spartan Cup continues tomorrow with the Final Round of competition. Proceedings will take place at MSU's outdoor tennis facility, weather permitting. The tournament will be moved to the indoor facility on Mount Hope Road in case of inclement weather.
