Women's Golf Finishes Fifth at Central District Classic

PARRISH, Florida - After 56 holes of play, the Michigan State women's golf team remained in fifth place at the Central District Classic Invitational in Parrish, Florida, finishing with a three-round score of 303-325-319=947. The Spartans hosted the tournament at the River Wilderness Country Club, October 23- 24. Northwestern won the tournament championship, finishing with a score of 300-309-307=916.
Spartan junior Emily Bastel (Upper Sandusky, Ohio) was the team leader, finishing in 14th place overall with a three round score of 75-81-78=234, nine strokes behind tournament champion Ashley Lowery (72-82-71=225) of Ohio State. Also finishing in the top 20 for Michigan State was Kasey Gant (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Allison Fouch (Grand Rapids, Mich.). Gant dropped from 6th place to 20th to tie with Fouch with a score of 76-77-83=236. Fouch finished with a score of 78-82-76=236.
The Spartans tee off in Pinehurst, North Carolina for the Pine Needles Invitational on November 6-8. The invitational marks the last golf tournament of the fall season.
