EAST LANSING, Mich.- - The MSU men's gymnastics team dropped its second Big Ten meet in a row to No. 5 Illinois on Saturday, January 29 by a score of 225.825-220.825.
Sophomore Jonathan Plante (Easton, Pa) won the all-around competition, scoring a 55.800. Plante also had a first place finish on the pommel horse with a score of 9.850. He also took third on the parallel bars (9.700) and horizontal bar (9.450).
The Spartans' Brad Golden (Fr., Orlando, Fla.) took third in the all-around with a 55.000. He also took third in the floor exercise (9.550) and pommel horse (9.300). Sophomore Marc Chiappetta (Mundelein, Ill.) saw his first action of the season and tied for third on the rings with a score of 9.450.
The Spartans next meet will be Saturday, February 5 at Jenison Field House when they look to rebound against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, beginning at 7 p.m.
