Men's Gymnastics Falls to No. 1 Ohio State

EAST LANSING, Mich.- - The MSU men?s gymnastics team fell to No. 1 Ohio State by a score of 228.275 to 221.925 in East Lansing on Saturday, January 22, 2000. The Spartans? Jon Plante (So., Easton, PA) set the school record on the pommel horse with a score of 9.950, breaking the previous record of 9.900 set last year. MSU?s Brad Golden (Fr., Orlando, FL) placed second in the all-around with a score of 55.700.
Ohio State?s Jamie Natalie won the all-around competition with a score of 58.175, Natalie also won the still-rings, horizontal bar and the parallel bars.
Golden won the floor exercise, scoring a 9.650 and took second in the vault with a 9.600. The Spartans? Brady Grimm (Sr., Holland, OH) took third on the pommel horse with a 9.450 and third on the horizontal bar, scoring a 9.500. Chris Weedon (Sr., Edmonton, Alta.) scored a 9.425 on the still rings, good for third place.
The Spartans next action will be Saturday, January 29 when they travel to Champaign, IL to take on the Illinois Fighting Illini.
