Spartan Wrestler Sixth at Penn State Open

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State senior Greg DeGrand (Ann Arbor/Saline) finished sixth at 165 pounds in the Penn State Open, Sunday, Dec. 6, in State College, Pa. The Spartan wrestler was defeated in the quarterfinals by All-American Ryan Cunningham of Central Michigan 2-1 in the tiebreaker overtime period. DeGrand rebounded to win his next match in a tiebreaker overtime. An injury then forced DeGrand to default his remaining matches.

This is DeGrand's second tournament placing of the season. He finished first at the 1998 Michigan State Open.
