Spartan Wrestler Invited to NWCA All-Star Meet

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State sophomore Pat McNamara (Jordan, Minn.) has accepted an invitation to compete in the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Meet on February 1 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The all-star dual meet matches the number one and two ranked wrestlers in each weight class.
McNamara, who earned All-America honors as a freshman by finishing fifth at the 1998 NCAA Championships, is currently ranked second in the nation at 133 pounds and has a perfect 18-0 record. He will square off against Oklahoma State's Eric Guerrero who is ranked first and boasts an 8-0 record. Guerrero, currently in his senior season, is a three-time All-American and two-time national champion. Although Guerrero and McNamara have never wrestled each other, they are scheduled to square off on Jan. 7, when the Spartan team travels to Stillwater to tangle with the Cowboys.
It was also announced that Michigan State will host the 2000 NWCA All-Star Meet. The duals will be held Mon., Feb 7, 2000 in East Lansing, Mich.
