MSU Men's Golf Finishes In 8th at Kepler Intercollegiate

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State's three-round total of 314-301-308=923 placed the Spartans in eighth place out of fifteen teams at the Kepler Intercollegiate, hosted by Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. Northwestern won the tournament at 301-300-298=899. It was the third championship in the last four tournaments for No. 13 Northwestern.
The Spartans finished at 59 over-par which was 24 strokes behind the Wildcats 35 over-par. MSU was paced for the second tournament in a row by senior Matt Pumford (Saginaw, Mich.), whose 75-72-79=226 was good for a share of 13th place individually. Junior Carlos Foulquie (Madrid, Spain) finished tied for 18th overall shooting 79-75-74=228. The three other Spartans competing at the Kepler Intercollegiate finished tied for 51st, 54th, and in 69th place individually.
Michigan State returns to action in two weeks when the Spartans host the Fossum Invitational on May 1-2 at Forest Akers West Course, in East Lansing.
