Men's Golf Places Fourth at Deep South Intercollegiate

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State's three-round total of 291-293-298=882 gave MSU a fourth place finish in the 18-team field at the Deep South Intercollegiate held on The Money Hill Country Club in Abita Springs, La. The Money Hill Country Club course measures a total of 7,012 yards and is a par 72 course. The Spartans' three-round team score of 882 was 18-over par and twenty-four strokes behind tournament winner Southeastern La. Southeastern La. finished at six-under par.

Coming off a week without action, junior Carlos Foulquie (Madrid, Spain) shot rounds of 75-72-70=217 to lead the Spartans and end up tied for seventh place overall. It was the first tournament of the fall season for MSU that Brent Goik (Bay City) was not Michigan State's top finisher.

The Spartans received excellent contributions from senior Matt Pumford (Saginaw) who wound up tied for 14th place, just two strokes behind Foulquie with rounds of 73-73-73=219. Adam Walicki (Saline) continued his fine freshman campaign as he shot a score of 73-76-77=226 finishing tied for 44th. Brent Goik completed his most disappointing round of the fall after leading the Spartans in their first four tournaments of the season. He finished tied for 34th place with scores of 73-72-79=224. Alberto Quevedo (Canary Islands, Spain) wrapped up the Spartans' total with rounds of 72-77-78=227.

This was the Spartans last action of the fall season. They do not return to play again until the spring season kicks off at the Alumni Challenge in Orlando, Fla., on the 13th of February.
