Women's Soccer Captures Fourth Straight Win

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The Michigan State women's soccer team used a pair of late goals in topping Western Michigan, 2-0, Wednesday in a game played at Kalamazoo. The win was MSUs fourth straight.
Spartan sophomore Gina Dawson (Bloomfield Hills) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at the 74:50 mark with an assist by junior Laura Monticello (Troy). MSU junior Jessica Moorman (Rolla, MO) sealed the games outcome at 80:41 with her team-leading 10th goal of the campaign.
The Spartans enjoyed a decisive 28-11 edge in shot attempts and finished the match with an 10-2 edge in corner kicks. MSU junior goalkeeper Mara Lee (Allison Park, PA) recorded two saves in notching her second consecutive shutout and third of the year. WMU goalkeeper Jennifer Haller registered 11 saves for the Broncos.
MSU now, 6-11-2 overall closes out the 1998 season at home Saturday afternoon starting at 3:00 p.m. when it hosts No. 20-ranked Brigham Young. The match will be played at Old College Field.
