Women's Golf Third at River Wilderness Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State women's golf team holds onto a fifth-place finish heading into the final day of competition at the River Wilderness Country Club in Parrish, Fla.
The Spartans shot a two-round 302-323=625, 11 shots behind second-place Central Florida. Host South Florida leads the competition with an overall score of 604.
Freshman Emily Bastel (Upper Sandusky, Ohio) continued her remarkable rookie season, leading the Spartans for the third time this year. Bastel shot a 71-79=150, finishing in 5th place individually.
Sophomore Kasey Gant (Fort Wayne, Ind.) followed Bastel with a tie for seventh (75-78=153).
The other three Spartans in the lineup were led by freshman Stacy Snider (Grand Rapids, Mich.), who tied for 21st place with a 77-83=160. Senior Meggan Schumaker (Columbia City, Ind.) tied for 24th, while senior Kellie Dennis (Jackson, Mich.) tied for 47th.
Competition continues tomorrow in Parrish, Fla. at 8 a.m.
