Women's Golf Takes 12th at River Wilderness

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's golf team moved up one position at the River Wilderness Intercollegiate, surpassing archrival Michigan, thanks to a third-round 320, its best round of the tournament by 11 strokes. Rebounding from a disappointing first day and posting Tuesday's eighth-best team score, MSU finished with a 331-339-320=990.
Three of the five MSU golfers improved their score on Tuesday. Another, freshman Kasey Gant (Fort Wayne, Ind.) fired her third 80 of the tournament, finishing in a tie for 33rd overall at 80-80-80=160.
Junior Kellie Dennis (Jackson, Mich.) enjoyed a five-stroke improvement from round two to round three, finishing in 52nd at 85-84-79=248. Junior April Holly (Royal Oak, Mich.) had the best MSU round of the day at 77, 10 strokes better than her second round (88-87-77=252, tie for 62nd).
Indiana captured the team title for the second consecutive year with a 307-305-297=909.
