Two members of the Michigan State men's track and field team won their events in Thursday's action of the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. Sophomore Paul Terek (Livonia, Mich.) won the decathlon with 7,156 points. His performance was good for second all-time on Michigan State's outdoor decathlon records, as he was only 50 points away from tying the school record that he set during last season. Terek also led the competition at the end of the first day in the two-day event.
Junior Joe Leo (Northville, Mich.) won the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:48.25. It was Leo's first career victory in an outdoor event. Fellow teammate and junior Matt LaFave (Sanford, Mich.) also competed in the 5,000 meters, placing ninth with a time of 15:17.58.
The Florida Relays will continue through Friday and Saturday, March 26-27.
