EAST LANSING, Mich.-- The Michigan State men's golf team stands in 12th place at the Kepler Invitational at Ohio State University, carding a 307-304=611 on Saturday. Ohio State leads the 16-team event after shooting a 280-285=565, 23 strokes better than second-place Miami of Ohio (294-294=588).
Junior Matt Reigel (East Lansing) was the top individual for MSU, firing a solid 76-72=148 to tie for 15th place. Teammates John Ehrgott (Sr., Peoria, Ill.) and Chad Quinn (So., Sylvania, Ohio) were only six strokes behind, striking identical scores of 76-78=154 to tie for 49th. Junior Matt Pumford (Saginaw) shot 80-76=156 to land in a tie for 60th, while junior Rich Strozewski (Quincy) tied for 71st after a 79-80=159.
Action resumes Sunday morning with the final 18 holes of the event.
