EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Paul Terek (Livonia, Mich.), a sophomore-to-be on the Michigan State track and field squad, won the decathlete at the Canadian Combined Events Championships held in Montreal, Quebec, on July 30-31. Terek finished with a score of 6932 points. Despite his victory, Terek believes there is room for improvement.
"I am happy with my score in the discus and high jump, but there are a couple of areas where I would have liked to score better," said Terek. "Overall, though, I am happy with my finish and my score."
Terek, who set five MSU track and field records his freshman year in the javelin, decathlon, pentathlon, and indoor and outdoor pole vault, believes the experience from the Canadian Combined Events Championships and the U.S. Junior Track and Field Championships should help during the upcoming season at MSU.
"I wish more kids could see what went on at the meets," said Terek. "I was excited about being around so many great young athletes. I also bonded with the multi-event people. The whole experience made me excited about the sport of track and excited about this year."
