Men's Track at Last Chance Qualifier

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Members of the Michigan State men's track and field competed in the Cyclone Last Chance National Track and Field Qualifier on Fri., Feb. 26 in Ames, Iowa. This was the last chance for athletes to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, to be held Mar. 5-6 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Leading the way for the Spartans was senior Chris Wehrman (Pinckney, Mich.), who narrowly missed provisionally qualifying for the NCAAs after finishing third in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:13.83. The provisional time in the 3,000 meters is 8:12.00.
Also placing for the Spartans was Lee Mays (Muskegon Heights, Mich.), who finished 16th in the 200 meter dash (22.33). In the 60 meter high hurdles, E.J. Martin (Orange Village, Ohio) placed second in his heat with a time of 8.15, but did not finish in the finals. Paul Terek (Livonia, Mich.), who has already qualified provisionally in the pole vault, did not clear any height in this competition.
