EAST LANSING, Mich. - The MSU men's track team ran in the Chippewa Invitational Friday afternoon at Central Michigan University. No team scores were kept, but the Spartans placed seven runners in the top five of their event.
Sophomore Matt Deering (Dowagiac, Mich.) finished second in the pole vault with a height of 4.88m, while two Spartan sprinters also grabbed second-place finishes. Senior John Hanson (Olivet, Mich.) was the runner-up in the 400m dash with a time of 50.21 seconds and junior E.J. Martin (Orange Village, Ohio) was second in the 110m high hurdles in a time of 14.42 seconds.
Junior thrower Justin Selden (Reese, Mich.) also had a good day, earning three top-five-finishes himself.
