Men's Golf Finishes 12th at Wolverine Invitational

EAST LANSING, Michigan - The Michigan State men's golf team finished 12th at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. Sunday, shooting a final-round 298 to end the tournament at 292-295-298=885, four strokes out of the top ten. Ohio State topped the 18-team field at 289-278-287=854, only one stroke ahead of second-place Kent (285-283-287=855).
Junior Alberto Quevedo (Canary Islands, Spain) led the Spartans on the individual side, firing a 72-73-74=219 to finish tied for 29th. Quevedo's 219 is the lowest tournament score of his career, topping the 224 he recorded at the Golden Ocala Invitational earlier this season. Senior John Ehrgott (Peoria, Ill.) came in one stroke behind, tying for 34th at 74-69-77=220, while sophomore Chad Quinn (Sylvania, Ohio) finished in a tie for 50th at 71-78-75=224. James McLean of Minnesota was the individual medalist, carding a nine-under par 69-67-68=204.
MSU will return home to host the Big Ten Championship May 8-10 at Forest Akers West Golf Course. Play will begin with 36 holes Friday, followed by 18 holes both Saturday and Sunday.
