EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State's three-round total of 295-297-292=884 placed MSU 4th in the 19-team field at the Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate held at Tanglewood Resort in Rottsboro, Texas. The course measured a total of 6,953 yards and was a par 72 course. The Spartans' three-round team score of 884 was 20-over par and thirty strokes behind tournament winner Minnesota. Minnesota finished at ten-under par.
The tournament was MSU's third competition of the spring season and their most impressive performance on the year. Sophomore Brent Goik (Bay City, Mich.) shot rounds of 77-71-71=219 along with junior Carlos Foulquie's (Madrid, Spain) 74-72-73=219 to finish tied for 12th place overall. It was Goik's and Foulquie's first time to lead MSU this spring. The Spartans also received strong contributions from Matt Pumford (Saginaw, Mich.) and Alberto Quevedo (Canary Islands, Spain) who both finished tied for 25th place.
Michigan State now takes a week off before returning to action at the Marshall Invitational held in Huntington, W.V. on April 9-10.
